14 Weeks!!! 2nd Trimester!!

Wow I am in my second trimester! According to the baby books, this is the "honeymoon phase" of pregnancy because you are past the sickness of the first trimester and before the discomfort of the third trimester. Since I didn't get sick in the first trimester, nothing really feels that different. I've been having round ligament pain just periodically from getting up fast and still some tiredness. I weighed myself this morning and it appears that I have gained 5 pounds since the beginning of pregnancy which is right where I need to be so that's good news. I can't button my pants anymore and have been wearing a belly band with my pants unzipped. However, most of my shirts are pretty fitted to my body so that has been tough trying to hide the unbuttoned pants look. I suspect I will need to start looking into some maternity clothes here in the next few weeks.

I've been looking at nursery furniture. I found a really cute white crib that I like a lot from Babies R Us. I actually drove out to Gaithersburg and Rockville to go to other baby stores that have a huge selection of nursery furniture but I didn't find anything that I liked better so that's good. I am in no rush to buy it, I just feel good to know I've found something I like and read many reviews and they all seem good. The next step will be to move all our office furniture into our guest room so we have an empty room for the nursery! Yay.

13 Weeks

Well, I offically am having trouble wearing my regular pants. I am in my last week of clinic so I have been wearing my normal work clothes and the pants are quite snug. I actually pulled on a pair of my black dress pants the other day and could not button them... could not even come close. So I had to wear them un buttoned with my Belly band around them to keep them up (greatest invention ever!). For majority of pants I've been having to wear them unbuttoned with the belly band.

I still feel great! No morning sickeness, the tiredness has gotten a little bit better and the being hungry ALL THE TIME feeling is more bearable. I am still hungry all the time but if I'm out and can't get food at that moment I can actually bear it where before I would immedietely feel sick until I ate. I am very excited that I still feel great!
I have a feeling a baby bump is coming in the very near future... I can notice a difference in my waistline as can Aaron but I don't think the average person would be able to notice any changes.

Week 13 pictures: Excuse the pajamas :), but you can notice a tiny bump!

13 1/2 weeks!

Well I am halfway through my week 13 which means only a few more days of my first trimester! Thinking about it like that makes it very real to me. Being in my 2nd trimester really makes it real! I still feel great. I have noticed that I get winded from walking up a lot of steps which is new for me. At the school we are at, there are lots of steps to go up and down multiple times a day and I find myself winded every time. I'm still trying to keep up with my exercise... I'm doing yoga once a week with mom and walking or jogging throughout the week. I have really started having stretching pains in the front of my stomach towards the side. I am wondering if this is the Round Ligament pain everyone has been talking about, but right now it just feels like a lot of pulling and sharp shooting pains. It mostly happens right when I stand up or at the grocery store when I was leaning into my cart (ouch!).

I am certainly noticing a belly. I would like to think it's a baby belly, but right now it just seems like extra thickness. My pants are definitely not buttoning anymore. Last week it was just a few pairs of pants that really didn't button but this week I have yet to find a pair of pants that I can button. I am just wearing them unbuttoned and covering with the belly band- what a great invention! We'll see how long that lasts!

12 Weeks! Almost done with my first trimester

Yesterday marked my 12 week point. I had my 12 week doctor appointment as well. It was officially my first prenatal appointment where we went over a bunch of paperwork, did an exam and got 6 vials of blood drawn! I hate having blood drawn so I was worried about this. Last time I had blood taken at 4 weeks was only 2 vials so I was worried this would be a lot worse. Surprisingly it wasn't bad at all!! I didn't feel her changing the tubes at all, which is the worst part for me. I felt the needle and that was it. It took a few minutes to get so much blood but really it wasn't bad.

The rest of my appointment went well. She tried to listen to the baby's heartbeat with the doppler and couldn't find it. That worried us a little bit but then she decided since she has the ultrasound machine right there she would go ahead and use the ultrasound to check things out (typically there is no ultrasound at 12 weeks). As soon as she put the ultrasound wand on my stomach there was baby! She found his heartbeat using the ultrasound and then tried the doppler again and there it was loud and clear! 164 beats a minute. Apparently she couldn't find it the first time because baby was moving all over the place. We got to watch him/her move for a few minutes - that truly is amazing that I can't feel any of it yet! He/she was flipping all over the place, stretching feet out across the whole screen, rolling around. It was so amazing to see!!!

As far as my symptoms, nothing has changed. Still very tired. The bloating has mostly gone away and I am still in my regular clothes. A few certain pants are a little tight but that's about it.

Here is our 12 week ultrasound picture:

9 weeks, 10 weeks, 11 weeks

Wow it's been a while since I've written. We went to Ohio two weeks ago and then went on vacation all last week before my graduate school clinic started this past Monday. Nothing much has changed. I'm still tired very often, hungry all the time and have been getting some headaches. Still no morning sickness. Although I did have a day last week where I felt sick. I didn't actually get sick, just felt bad for majority of the afternoon. I'm in graduate school clinic this month so during the week I'm up very early and at clinic all day in a very busy and stressful atmosphere. I'm not sure how tired I really am due to pregnancy or if it's more due to the clinic stresses. But I still am taking my afternoon naps most afternoons. That gives me my second wind to actually get all my work done for the next day.

No real changes yet that anyone else would notice I don't think. I wore a regular bathing suit at the beach all last week and while I notice changes I don't think anyone else does. I just feel bloated and flabby at this time which is a gross feeling. But pretty soon I suppose it will turn into an actual baby bump.

I'll post pictures as soon as I upload them to the computer. I don't think there are really any changes though so they probably aren't necessary.

Almost finished with my 1st trimester!!!
