We started this blog to document everything happening during the pregnancy of our first child. I debated just writing things down in a pregnancy journal but through since everything is so digital now a days that we might as well just do it all electronically so we can include pictures as well!
Last Friday morning I dropped Aaron off at the airport for his weekend trip to Vegas with some friends from Ohio. That afternoon when I got home from work, I decided to take a pregnancy test since I didn't want to drink that weekend if I was pregnant. Of course I didn't actually think I was... I wasn't actually "late" yet. We had discussed possibly thinking of getting pregnant this coming summer - July maybe - so I just
knew I wasn't pregnant yet. Well, I was wrong! The pregnancy test showed otherwise.

I was SHOCKED and excited both at the same time. I really didn't believe it at first. But a couple more pregnancy tests confirmed that. Ha ha. I didn't want to tell Aaron the news over the phone while he was in Vegas and made the decision that I would wait until he got back on Monday. Ugh - it was a very long weekend keeping a huge secret like that!! I spent the afternoon with my mom and couldn't tell her since I hadn't told Aaron yet! I thought for sure she would be able to tell something was up because I couldn't possibly be acting myself. Long story short - I kept the secret all weekend. Monday night when I got home from work I announced the exciting news to Aaron. I wasn't sure what to expect from hime, but he was thrilled!!! We are both so incredibly excited to be expecting our first child!!!
I had my first doctor's appointment on Tuesday to confirm my pregnancy. She just did a quick exam, gave me prenatal vitamins and wrote my order to get my blood drawn. She also told me our expected due date is January 25, 2010! I went after that to get my blood drawn. Anyone who knows me well knows that I have terrible anxiety and panic disorder that is triggered by medical situations. So, getting my blood drawn was the last thing I wanted to do. BUT, I went by myself, I had it done without any panic!! It was amazing. The lady that drew the blood was amazing and I barely felt it at all. My doctor called the next day to let me know the blood results looked good, were in the expected pregnancy range and that we will go back on June 10 for our first ultrasound. We can't wait to actually see our little baby!
So far, I have felt fine. I am only 5 weeks pregnant, at the beginning of my sixth week now. I've been really tired all the time, but besides that, I feel great. We went to my cousins wedding in Pittsburgh this weekend. It was definitely different not drinking all weekend, and not being able to tell people why! We have made the decision to wait a few more weeks before announcing the news to friends. I didn't want to share the news with my relatives this weekend since it's was Matt's wedding and not the time to share the news. Also, we would like to wait until after the ultrasound. We have already told our immediate family, everyone is very excited!
I am going to try and take pictures each week to watch the changes. Here is my first picture - 5 weeks!
